Introducing the “HARDWARE HORSE" -  Lightning fast…    .001” accurate…    Easy peazy set-up

Why should I choose this jig over any other?
When it comes to installing cabinet hardware, you can opt for a high-tech device geared toward professionals, or roll the dice with one of those flimsy, plastic templates. The Hardware Horse was designed for the do-it-yourselfer who insists on hassle-free set-up and dead-on precision. Plus, it's 2 jigs in 1, allowing you to quickly and accurately drill for cabinet hardware on doors AND drawers. We even include the drill bit!

What pulls will it work with?
Aside from knobs, the Hardware Horse is configured for 10 of the most common pull sizes: 2 ½”, 3”, 3 ½”, 96mm (3.78”), 4”, 128mm (5.04”), 6”, 160mm (6.3”), 192mm (7.56”), and 8”.  Got an oddball size not mentioned? Drill your own!

What options do I have for a side offset?
Those flimsy plastic templates give you just a handful of side offset choices, which won't do much good if you want your pulls to be exactly in the center of a door stile. The Hardware Horse has 40 pairs of parallel holes at 1/16” increments. This lets you place the center of the pull anywhere from ½” – 4” off the side of the door. Wow!

Can I install my hardware at any height I want?
Sure can! Again, those flimsy templates give you exactly ONE option on how high the pull can be mounted. The Hardware Horse lets you place the knob or pull anywhere along the height of the door! Choosing one of the 25 pre-set height stops will place the center of the pull from 1½” to 6½” from the top/bottom of the door. For larger height offsets (like on tall doors), put a small pencil mark on the door to indicate the center of the desired location. Then simply align the jig’s center mark with your pencil mark, and drill away!

Sounds great for doors, but what about drawers?
That’s the beauty of it, because the jig can be set up for drawers in about 30 seconds! Just insert the indexing pins into the desired pair of offset holes. This automatically aligns the jig parallel to the top of the drawer with any offset up to 4" (a.k.a. the center of an 8” high drawer). The rest is easy. Slide the jig so the center is aligned with the middle of the drawer and start drilling! For drawers over 8" tall, remove all of the indexing pins, and strike lines that are centered on the drawer width and height. Then use the jig’s built-in tick marks to line up the jig on the face of the drawer, clamp it down to prevent it from moving and you’re good to go!

I see that it's ¾” thick. Why is that significant?
Those worthless plastic templates only let you mark the pull location with a pencil. When you go to actually drill the hole, things can go wrong in a hurry. Aside from the fact that it's almost impossible to hold a drill at 90 degrees by eye, the drill bit will also have a tendency to "walk" as you start the hole (especially in solid wood). Walking drill bits = crooked handles. That's the kind of aggravation that no one needs. Since the Hardware Horse is ¾” thick, your holes will be dead-on perpendicular, and right where they're supposed to be... First time, every time!

Hey, where's it made, anyway?
Well, if you like supporting American business, this is a great way to do it! The Hardware Horse was invented by an American cabinetmaker and is manufactured on our precision CNC machining center, right in our family owned shop on Long Island, NY. Go USA!

Awesome! But is there ANY downside to this thing?
OK, full disclosure. The jig is composed entirely of MDF, so it doesn't have case-hardened drill bushings. So yes, professionals who install dozens of kitchens a year might want to look elsewhere. But to the average homeowner who just needs to do a few kitchen’s worth of pulls, we know you’ll agree... the Hardware Horse is the only way to go!
