Let’s take a look at what kind of sag you can expect with our oval rods. We tested them under real-world conditions—here are the results.

• 4' span → 63 lbs → 1/8" sag
• 5' span → 79 lbs → 3/8" sag
• 6' span → 95 lbs → 13/16" sag

As you can see, a mid support is usually called for once you get past about 4½ feet—and even at 4 feet for heavily loaded closets.

Installation with wall brackets.

• Install both wall brackets first, mounting them the same distance below the shelf as the mid support
• Slide the mid hanger onto the rod
• Install the rod onto the end brackets (you may need to flex it slightly)
• Slide the mid hanger into position and secure it with the provided screws

Installation with end brackets.

• Install the first end bracket
• Slide the mid hanger onto the rod
• Place the second end bracket onto the rod and install it
• Slide the mid hanger into position and secure it with the provided screws
